Job Details Job Location : FARMINGTON COUNTRY CLUB - CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA Position Type : Full Time Salary Range : Undisclosed Job Shift : Any Job Category : Hospitality - Hotel Description Farmington Country Club is seeking a dynamic and strategic leader to serve as its Director of Fitness and Aquatics. This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Club’s Fitness, Wellness, and Aquatics operations—ensuring exceptional member experiences, high-quality programming, and operational excellence. Reporting to the Clubhouse Operations Manager, this position provides leadership to a multidisciplinary team and plays a key role in aligning departmental goals with the Club’s overall vision. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for health and wellness, a strong background in team leadership, and a commitment to maintaining a safe, engaging, and innovative environment for both members and staff. Job Responsibilities General Work with the Clubhouse Operations Manager to articulate a department vision that aligns with the vision for the Club Develop and implement programs that support and further the Club’s strategic plan Develop annual department and individual goals and take responsibility for their achievement Work with the other department managers to implement the Club's vision for fitness and aquatics Ensure relevance and member satisfaction through high-quality programs and services Serve as the management liaison to the Pool and Fitness Committee and its subsequent committees Take an active role in the Club’s Safety Committee Manage the Club’s safety equipment replacement schedule Coordinate and conduct safety certification training programs for managers and staff Participate in regular meetings with the management team Champion and facilitate teamwork and cooperation between departments Promote wellness programs and activities for staff Management Hire, train, supervise, review performance, and make compensation decisions for the Fitness and Wellness and Aquatics staff Conduct periodic performance evaluations Ensure and oversee the professional development of staff Ensure that staff maintain appropriate certifications Manage staff schedules to ensure that Club service standards are met Monitor time and attendance policy and payroll Lead and facilitate department meetings Ensure a clean, safe, and sanitary environment; coordinate with Housekeeping and Maintenance departments to ensure that facilities are clean and function properly Budget Develop the annual operation and capital budgets for the Fitness and Wellness, and Aquatics departments Ensure budgeted objectives and goals are met or exceeded Manage the 5-year capital plan to ensure the department’s facilities and equipment are maintained and aligned with the club’s master plan Programming Oversee the development and implementation of high-quality programs and services Coordinate programming with other club departments Work with the Communications team to produce program marketing materials, to include the club newsletter and website, social media, brochures, and videos Solicit member feedback and analyze member data to ensure that fitness and wellness, and aquatics programs remain relevant to the membership Stay current with fitness and aquatics trends, and develop programming to ensure relevance to our members and alignment with the club’s master plan Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Physiology, Sports and Recreation Management, or related field Minimum of five years of related and demonstrable supervisory experience Working knowledge of the Microsoft 365 suite Previous experience in a health club, spa, resort, or similar industry a plus Familiarity with club management or customer management software a plus Certifications and Accreditations Required: CPR/AED and First Aid (American Red Cross or American Heart Association) Recommended: NCCA accreditation (ACE, ACSM, NASM, NSCA) Required (or ability to obtain): Certified Pool Operator (CPO) #J-18808-Ljbffr Farmington Country Club
