Overview
Sylvan Learning is a leading provider of tutoring to students of all ages, grades and skill levels. Sylvan @ Schools brings our noteworthy programming to school campuses. Our school partnerships present an incredible opportunity to offer students a small group experience that students do not receive within their larger classroom setting.
Sylvan @ Schools Tutors create a positive personal learning experience for students by tutoring students using our Sylvan program materials and online. This role is essential to helping students achieve their educational goals by teaching skills, clarifying concepts, and fostering independent learning. Tutors are deployed to Sylvan Learning Centers in the Greater Los Angeles area to help support high school students with their homework virtually. Our tutors provide academic support to K-12 students in reading and math.
Job Responsibilities
• Deliver guided, scripted curriculum and/or lesson support to groups of up to 10 students.
• Promote a positive, inclusive, encouraging learning environment.
• Utilize motivation program to positively impact student attendance and performance.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance and student progress.
• Participate in required training and staff meetings.
• Collaborate with Leads and Directors to ensure smooth program execution.
Compensation
• $25 – $27/hour
• Training rate: $18.25/hour (10-16 hours)
• Tutors can expect to tutor 4 per day, 4 days per week, M-Th. Tutors will be assigned to a specific Sylvan Learning Centers.
• Tutoring will occur between 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM and may vary based upon the needs of the school and their bell schedule. Tutors are required to arrive 10-15-minutes before their scheduled tutoring to set up and log in.
