Job Overview

Repairs, rebuilds, or overhauls major assemblies of internal combustion automobiles, buses, trucks, or tractors. Diagnoses malfunctions and inspects all incoming and outgoing authorized vehicles. Assists technicians and provides customer service support. Inspects shop equipment and troubleshoots all incoming vehicles. Responds to a wide array of operational situations as they arise and as instructed by management personnel. Provides reports as required. Accountable for limited technical instructions. Required strict adherence to OSHA and AFOSH safety standards. Develops a tool accountability program.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Job Functions:

  • Diagnoses malfunctions and inspect all incoming and outgoing authorized vehicles.
  • \n
  • Repairs, rebuilds, and maintains various types of motor vehicles and related equipment, including but not limited to engines, drivelines, brakes, and hydraulic systems.
  • \n
  • Requires strict adherence to OSHA and AFOSH safety standards.
  • \n
  • Accountable for hand tools and shop equipment.
  • \n
  • Performs normal maintenance on shop equipment and maintains the cleanliness of the shop area.
  • \n
  • May be assigned additional duties, which may include, but are not limited to, accountability for Government Furnished items.
  • \n
  • Responds to a wide array of operational situations as they arise and as instructed by management personnel.
  • \n
  • Performs general housekeeping duties.
  • \n
  • Able to perform the duties of this position with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • \n
  • Repairs, rebuilds, or overhauls major assemblies of internal combustion automobiles, buses, trucks, or tractors.
  • \n
  • Diagnoses the source of trouble and determines the extent of repairs required.
  • \n
  • Replaces worn or broken parts such as piston rings, bearings, or other engine parts.
  • \n
  • Grinds and adjusts valves.
  • \n
  • Rebuilds carburetors.
  • \n
  • Overhauls transmissions.
  • \n
  • Repairs fuel injection, lighting, and ignition systems.
  • \n
  • Accountable for hand tools and shop equipment.
  • \n
  • Provides one-on-one customer service with internal or external customers.
  • \n
  • May be required to work alternate shifts or in alternate work locations as prescribed by management needs.
  • \n
  • Responds to a wide array of operational situations as they arise and as instructed by supervisory personnel.
  • \n
  • Performs all other duties assigned.

Job Requirements

Mandatory:
    \n
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in automotive repair.
  • \n
  • ASE Certification as a Master Automobile Technician or equivalent military automotive experience.
  • \n
  • ASE Refrigerant Recovery & Recycling review certification program or EPA section 609 certified equivalent program.
  • \n
  • Demonstrated ability to perform complete operational checks.
  • \n
  • Experience in the troubleshooting and repair of engine assemblies, clutch assemblies, brakes, hydraulic systems, drive trains, transmissions, and electrical systems.
  • \n
  • Ability to work a non-traditional workweek and perform additional duties as directed by management.
  • \n
  • Outstanding technical knowledge, excellent people skills, and focus on superior customer service.
  • \n
  • Additional training for Hazardous Waste Accumulation, Pollution Prevention, and other training related to the position may be required.
  • \n
  • Team player: ability to communicate effectively and work harmoniously with others.
  • \n
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English for a working knowledge of hazardous, safety, and environmental warning, as per contract requirement.
  • \n
  • Must be able to provide own tools.
  • \n
  • Ability to understand working knowledge of hazardous, safety, and environmental warnings.
  • \n
  • Working knowledge of diesel engine vehicles.
  • \n
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • \n
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a favorable National Agency Check (NACI).
  • \n
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds, and team lift 51 pounds or more.
  • \n
  • Knowledge and adherence to OSHA and AFOSH safety standards.
  • \n

Preferred:
  • Five to Eight (5-8) years previous experience in automotive repair in both diesel and gas.

  • Work may be performed both indoors and outdoors. Outdoor work is subject to extreme temperatures, noise, inclement weather conditions, and other conditions determined by the nature of the job. Tasks may be performed on uneven, and or inclined, hard, and soft-carpeted floors, cement structures and surfaces at variable heights.
