Typical qualifications and skills include: Strong interpersonal communication Ability to manage relationships with coaches, administrators, staff, students, and parents Skills in motivating and directing coaches Resourcefulness and effective delegation Attendance at SV athletic competitions and ongoing professional development Strong analytical, administrative, and multitasking skills Experience in creating and overseeing an athletic department’s strategic plan Job Responsibilities The Athletic Director will: Administer guidance for SV sports programming Manage and maintain the SV Sports Handbook Enforce policies and procedures outlined in the SV Sports Handbook Schedule seasonal parent meetings and prepare presentations Coordinate with coaches on game, event, and practice schedules Arrange travel and logistics with coaches and bus drivers Schedule travel for field trips and athletic events Establish season, conference, and district schedules in collaboration with other schools Recruit, select, and oversee coaching staff; conduct season reviews Develop postseason plans with league officials Maintain safe and clean facilities and equipment Record and file team statistics and student physicals promptly Ensure compliance with school and MSHSAA policies Discuss student eligibility with administrators Develop and manage the department’s budget, including equipment, facilities, salaries, and officials Job Requirements Education & Experience: A bachelor’s degree in sports management, health, physical education, or related fields is preferred At least five years of athletic, coaching, or teaching experience is preferred Knowledge of athletic budget management is preferred Join the Archdiocese of St. Louis, where your skills and passion can serve a greater purpose.
