Job Description

Adjunct Instructor, History of Animation

The Columbus College of Art & Design (CCAD) is seeking a Part Time Adjunct Instructor for our History of Art & Visual Culture department to teach an integrated Introduction to the History of Animation beginning in the Spring 2026 semester.

Course Details: This is an in-person on campus course. This course will be a team-taught, integrated class between studio animation and art history. Designed for first year students, weekly lectures and discussions on the history of animation will be paired with studio experiences where students will create animation projects. As a survey of world animation from its early history through current day, the studio projects will provide a necessary parallel experience where students will stand in the shoes of earlier animators to understand the approaches, conceptual, aesthetic and technical of animators from diverse backgrounds.

Position: Adjunct Instructor, part-time

Qualifications: A Masters degree in art or design history is required and previous teaching experience preferred.

Application Deadline: Priority given to candidates who apply by December 19, 2025

Date of Hire: Spring 2026

A completed application will include:

  • A cover letter that articulates the ways their experience fits the role, highlights their teaching philosophy, and discusses their experience teaching through a lens of cultural competency.
  • A CV including names/contact details for three references

Please apply by visiting and searching for Animation. The application should include a letter of interest and resume or vita.
